This year, we invited the youth to step away from their screens, breathe in the fresh Adriatic air, and celebrate UN Youth Day in a uniquely active and engaging way with our Mini Olympics.
A day of fun, friendship, and fitness
On August 18th, Sun Gardens Dubrovnik resort animations team hosted a thrilling Mini Olympics event across several scenic locations in our resort. This special day was designed to encourage young guests and their families to embrace physical activity, connect with peers, and create unforgettable memories.
Participants had the chance to compete in a variety of sports and challenges, from traditional track and field events to fun team-building exercises. Families, including parents, were also able to join in some of the activities, making it a truly inclusive and intergenerational celebration. Whether sprinting across our lush lawns, taking on an obstacle course by the sea, or showcasing teamwork in relay races, the Mini Olympics offered something for everyone.
Why the Mini Olympics?
In an age where digital interactions often replace face-to-face connections, the importance of outdoor activities cannot be overstated. Inspired by the spirit of the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Mini Olympics at Sun Gardens Dubrovnik provided an opportunity to bring the excitement of the global event to our resort, encouraging participants to experience the joy of sport firsthand. By fostering a spirit of friendly competition, we aimed to help our young guests and their families develop both their physical and social skills, all while having a blast in the process.
A perfect way to make new friends
One of the most rewarding aspects of the Mini Olympics was the opportunity it provided for participants to meet and bond with other youth and families from around the globe. As they worked together in teams or competed in individual events, children, teens, and their parents had plenty of chances to make new friends, share experiences, and learn from one another. In the spirit of International Youth Day, this gathering at Sun Gardens Dubrovnik served as a microcosm of global unity, where young people celebrated their differences and discovered common ground.
Activities across the resort
The Mini Olympics at Sun Gardens Dubrovnik utilized several key locations within the resort, taking advantage of the well-groomed grounds and scenic views. Events were spread across the multifunctional sports centre, which provided ample space for various athletic activities, and the Lemonia Pool area, where water-based challenges took place. The resort promenade, with its beautiful vistas of the Adriatic Sea, also served as a venue for some of the competitions. These diverse settings offered participants a range of environments in which to engage in physical activity and enjoy the outdoors.
